Pell Grant – Federal grant of up to $6495 per year for US citizens or permanent resident aliens enrolled as college undergrads based on financial need. Application is through the FAFSA process and recipients are generally notified through their school financial aid package.

SEOG: Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant – Federal grant of up to $4000 per year for US citizens or permanent resident aliens enrolled as college undergrads based on financial need. Application is through the FAFSA process and recipients are generally notified through their school financial aid package.

IASG: Iraq & Afghanistan Service Grant – Federal grant of up to the amount of a Pell Grant, not to exceed cost of tuition based on financial need for students whose parent or guardian was member of the US Armed Forces and died as a result of the service in Iraq or Afghanistan after 9/11/10. Must be under age 24 and ineligible for a Pell Grant due only to having less financial need than required to receive Pell funds. Application is through the FAFSA process.

TEACH Grant – Federal grant of up to $4000 per year forUS citizen or permanent resident alien enrolled as college undergrad who is enrolled or plans to enroll in course work necessary to begin a career in teaching. Must have a score above 75th percentile on a college admission test or maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Application is through the FAFSA process.

CT Minority Teacher Incentive Grant – State grant of up to $5,000 a year for 2 years; loan reimbursement of $2,500 a year for up to 4 years of teaching in a CT public school for Minority junior or senior enrolled in a CT teacher preparation program. Selection is by nomination by dean. Application available at http://www.ctohe.org/SFA.
